Committee Report

The Juniors Committee has devoted the last few months to working up the guidelines for the ACDCA Junior Achievement Award Program and we are pleased to announce that our efforts have paid off. The guidelines were sent to the Vice President for review and she, along with the board, approved them after a few adjustments. The guidelines are a work in progress so we are prepared to make necessary adjustments, as the need arises, to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. Please read over the guidelines in the Junior’s Section of this issue.

We have Juniors from all across the country signed up already with many teams. This committee is excited to see all of the kids joining in and readying themselves and their dogs for competition. The Juniors are responsible for sending in all of their supporting documentation, per the guidelines, for any points to be tabulated, giving them the responsibility for their own record keeping. The first weekend of January saw Juniors across the country already showing to garner points towards the Awards Program.

Currently, we are putting together some more ideas on fundraisers for the Juniors, so keep watch, more news to come soon. Our past fundraisers have been a big hit, so stay tuned.

We also have a number of Juniors interested in trying herding, rally, and other events for the first time, and they are looking into getting help from our mentors and taking advantage of the generous offers for herding camps and lessons. If you know a Junior that wants to get some help in another venue, please have them contact us and we will get them together with someone who can assist them.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Juniors and taken the time to offer some guidance or give them a pat on the back. These kids are getting out there and trying and we want them to have fun and keep on learning. We want to stress that good sportsmanship is very important and want the kids to handle the highs and lows with a winning attitude! Best of luck to all of our Juniors!

Respectfully submitted,

Theresa Buzzard-Couch
